Quantum v2
What it is:
The Quantum v2 offers the next generation in PE/Quantum technology. The Quantum v2 utilizes our new stacked circuit design, which allows us to fit a larger filter circuit into a smaller package. The Quantum v2 can reduce and eliminate high frequency harmonic noise riding on the AC circuit up to 1600 feet. Bybee Technology inside. Each unit is hand-built and signed by Alan Maher.
What it does for your system:
The Quantum v2 combats stray inductance, RFI/EMI noise, and eliminates crosstalk distortion. The Quantum v2 has been fine tuned to compliment our entire line of specialty audiophile filters and power center. The Quantum v2 is designed to provide a lifetime of musical enjoyment and infinite electrical tonal reproduction.
The Quantum v2 increases bass definition, midrange warmth, 3-D soundstage, top/bottom detail, and extension. Video benefits include increased black level and contrast, color saturation, hue, detail/resolution, and sharpness. The Quantum v2 is an active parallel filter designed for the audiophile/videophile that craves organic tube-like sound quality.
Why it works – the science:
Linear loads are voltage fluctuations and harmonic noise that occur when any large appliance (i.e. amplifier, refrigerator, the factory down the street, etc.) are switched on or off. In a worst case scenario, reactive elements (inductance, capacitance, resistance) can interact with the system (any power supply plugged into the wall) and with each other (via the in-wall electrical wiring) to create resonant conditions (or odd harmonics) above 50/60 Hz, resulting in electrical instability and severe over-voltage/under-voltage fluctuations.
A non-linear load on a power system is typically a rectifier (such as used in a power supply), or some kind of arc discharge device (fluorescent lamp, washing machine, furnace, etc.). Because current in these appliances is interrupted by a switching action, the current contains frequency components (noise) that are multiples of the 50/60 Hz frequency. Non-linear loads change the shape of the current waveform from a sine wave to some other form. Non-linear loads create harmonic currents in addition to the original (fundamental frequency) AC current.
Typical linear components such as capacitors and inductors cannot cancel these harmonic currents, so other methods such as filters or active power factor correction are required to smooth out their current demand over each cycle of alternating current and so reduce the generated harmonic currents.
Shot noise occurs in certain devices (e.g., vacuum tubes) due to random fluctuations in current and its spectrum is white in character. For many solid-state circuit elements, the noise floor is dominated by frequency dependent noise, often referred to as 1/f noise. Its spectral density increases as the inverse of frequency, just like pink noise; but unlike pink noise which is broadband, 1/f noise is typically confined to fewer than 2 kHz. The key point is that 1/f noise behaves like the musical spectrum. Its envelope mimics that of the musical signal. Recent research indicates that perceptually such noise blends in very well with the music. Once buried within the music, it is reasonable to speculate that 1/f noise defuses image outlines and adulterates harmonic textures. By using Bybee Quantum Purifiers, the basic premise is that 1/f noise detracts from the listening experience: reduce 1/f noise and you improve the sound.
The Quantum V2 is a specially designed stacked filter bank that addresses problems in both linear and non-linear load applications, as well as RFI/EMI and shot noise within the professional and consumer environment.
